The Universal VLS4.60 laser cutter and Roland GX-24 vinyl cutter are designed to work with CorelDRAW. These machines may also work with Adobe Illustrator, however there are a number of issues and bugs that are completely avoided by using the recommended software, CorelDRAW.
How to Start
CorelDRAW X7 is available on CatylatorPC02 (located next to the laser cutter) and CatylatorPC0x (located next to the vinyl cutter). However, due to the limited access to these machines, members could start with Inkscape which is available on all computers. Once the basic file has been done in Inkscape then the design can be transferred to CorelDRAW to finish.
CorelDRAW reads and writes .cdr files, as well as a range of vector graphic files, including SVG (scalable vector graphic) files
