So much of what we do in our daily lives is going to be (or has already been) given to machines to automate.
And why not? Automation makes our lives easier.
It does change the conversation for those who have jobs that are now automated, thanks to our technology booms.
Think about the simple act of driving a car. Google is currently testing the Self-Driving Car. It may be a while before this becomes mainstream, but the technology is no longer futuristic. It is our current reality.
Is it a matter of time before a technological advancement affects your job?
That’s an uncomfortable thought. But hey, no problem – if seeking alternatives, this is one question to ask :
What is it that you can do that can’t be automated?
Machines can do many cool and convenient things but they won’t be able to create individuality and the craftsmanship that a person can.
Work made with your hands will have the hardest time being automated.
You know what your skills are.
If only there was some place where you could go and practice them, get a little feedback, maybe find a decent collaboration situation, prepare for the future …
The possibilities are endless…
