We have great news to announce: Catylator Makerspace has received a significant donation to boost our social mission!
As I have written many times, we believe deeply in the transformative power of making things with your hands, and the deep sense of agency that can be gained through creating things for yourself. Access to learning, to new advanced technologies and to a supportive, inclusive, community whose culture is centered around people helping each other is the ideal environment for developing agency and we want to broaden that access to underserved sectors of our community via the Catylator platform.
Mr. Songbae Lee visited Catylator for our MeetUp event in January, and based upon that experience decided to support Catylator’s mission by sending a donation via our fiscal sponsorship from Fractured Atlas. The donation will be used to widen access to the makerspace from underserved and under-represented community groups. Widening access will include events at the space itself, as well as outreach events in the community, and scholarships for classes and specialized programs in the makerspace.
We are all tremendously grateful for Songbae’s generosity and will be working diligently to ensure the funds will be used for maximum effect.
